Compositions of the front tyre
One of the most distinctive features of the RACETEC™ RR SLICK is its versatility of use across a wide range of asphalts and temperatures.
For this reason, the choice of compound for the front tyre should be made based on whether the rider prefers more stability and precision on corner entry (K2 version) or if they prefer better feedback and an absolute feeling of grip (K1 version).
Predictability in racing tyres is the ability to warn the rider when grip is nearing the limit. During heavy braking and lean angles, the rider will feel this warning as a softening in handling combined with understeer due to front slip.
The ability to manage such a situation is a factor that contributes to making riders faster. The neutral characteristics of the RACETEC™ RR SLICK alert the rider when limits are approached, allowing the rider to have a greater feeling of control and thus seek the best lap times.
Compositions of the rear tyre
As with the front tyre, the choice of version is based on the friction coefficient of the asphalt (depending on the circuit or road race) and the temperature of the asphalt (with a threshold around 25/30°C).
An important aspect of the compound development has been focused on consistency of performance, based on the type of use (mileage and/or laps) and time (thermal cycles).
The addition of specific resin in the formulations of the compounds and the use of a specific mixing process allow the RACETEC™ RR SLICK to be used across different thermal cycles.
Handling and agility
The rear tyre of the RACETEC™ RR SLICK features a significant evolution regarding dimensions, with the enlargement of the series to 180 and 190.
The traditional size of the Supersoft rear, 180/55, has evolved to 180/60. Similarly, the traditional size of the Superbike rear (190/55) has evolved to 200/60.
The RACETEC™ RR SLICK has a wider and sharper profile, resulting in a larger contact patch at any lean angle. The profile speeds up the transition between a vertical position and leaning, meaning that the angle of lean is attained faster and grip in corners arrives more quickly when taking full angles.
All asphalts, temperatures, and settings
The RACETEC™ RR SLICK has been developed to offer great versatility across a wide range of bikes and allow for simpler settings.
The multilayer structures of the rear tyre are very close to those of production hypersport machines, allowing for tyre pressures close to those recommended by bike manufacturers. This is an advantage that facilitates settings.
The compounds of the RACETEC™ RR SLICK are versatile and designed to adapt to different asphalts in terms of stiffness but also in working temperature.
